Wine tourism day in Priorat. Private tour from Barcelona.

(also available from other cities)

The Priorat is a region with ancient wine tradition, with wines already famous from as far back as the XIIth Century, well known for its powerful flavour and taste. Nowadays, in the Priorat there are two appellations of origin (DO), the qualified DOQ Priorat, which is formed by the Historic Priorat territory, and the DO Montsant, a newer DO, however, producing surprisingly good wines.

The Priorat area, with it diverse but unknown wine landscape, is full of hidden and unexpected spots of great beauty, walks between vineyards which pleasure us with an ever changing scenery over the four seasons, full of colours and intensive aromas.

With this private tour, you will be able to “taste the Priorat wine region” in one day, enjoying its powerful landscape and savouring both appellations of origin of wine. Recently, we have also added to the tour a tasting of organic olive oil by a local producer, and paired with local products. A unique experience to savour real high quality olive oil!

Itinerary which combines a train trip from Barcelona or any other village with train connection to Marçà-Falset with a prived guided tour. Private tour with taxi picking you up in your hotel also possible. Do not hesitate to contact us for a tailor-made quotation.

We had such a perfect day. The train journey was very easy and the scenery from the train was beautiful.

Meritxell was an excellent guide. She was extremely knowledgeable about
the region, wine making and the history, which made it very enjoyable.

Everybody had a fun, interesting day, so thank you.

    Kind regards,

  2. Anssi

We enjoyed an excellent day in beautiful (and not yet fully discovered) Priorat wine region with wide range of different wineries and tasteful wines. Day was organized very well and I recommend El Brogit to everyone, who wants to experience and feel the art of winemaking and history of mindblowing Priorat region with very professional guidance. Thank You Meritxell once again!

    The real Priorat

If you are on the Costa Daurada and are interested in wine then you must visit the highly regarded but not very accessible Montsant and Priorat regions. Public transport is very poor and a hire car would be very hard work in the rugged mountains.

    What can you do?

We found the perfect answer and went with the charming Meritxell Omella of the “El Brogit” tourism company.

Meritxell is passionate about the countryside, people and culture of Catalunya and had so much of interest to tell us and show us throughout the day. Priorat is the most spectacular and fascinating of the many wine regions we have visited.

We were picked up at our hotel in Cambrils and headed over the mountains for our first stop at the Baronia de Montant Bodega in Cornudella de Montsant. The wines were superb and Laura was a delightful and very knowledgeable hostess.

More mountains and we were off to Priorat and the spectacular setting of the famous Carthusian Monastery of D’Escaldei. Just down the road we then visited the Cellars of Scala Dei and tasted the wines which helped make the region famous. Lunch was at a typical restaurant in the village square.

After lunch we headed for the Consolacio chapel of Gratallops, climbing a steep hillside through the world famous Ermita vineyard of Alvaro Palacios. We were rewarded with fabulous views of this unique wine region. Our final stop was at the very small but lively Davinssi Bodega in Gratallops itself. Meritxell then returned us to our hotel with a few bottled souvenirs, tired but very happy indeed.

My wife and I had a wonderful day and are truly grateful to Meritxell for making it possible.

Brilliant wine tour and education in a magnificent setting

What was intended to be an introduction to Priorat and Montsant wines turned out to be a deep-dive into the heart and soul of a magnificent region and the art of wine-making – seen through the “terroir” and tasted through the fruits of the land. Meritxell was the perfect guide – planning a near-bespoke tour for us, showing what makes Priorat and its wines stand out, and driving us around for the best views of the region. A must for (red) wine-lovers.

    Fantastic Tour of Priorat Region!!

Our day with El Brogit in the Priorat region was a highlight of our week in Catalonia. We visited the Carthusian monastery in Escaladei, enjoyed a wine tasting and tour at Scala Dei winery, and an olive oil tasting — including fantastic homemade local foods — at El Moli d’Oli farm shop. The result was a chance to learn more deeply about the Priorat and to sit and talk with local producers. It was also a delight to see the stunningly beautiful countryside as a passenger!

Meritxell was a cheerful, informative and engaging guide, offering historical and cultural insights unavailable to us otherwise. Her English is excellent and she provided perspectives that only someone from the region could offer.

Logistics were easy – Meritxell customized the day around our interests, and picked us up from our apartment in Tarragona.

A very special day – very highly recommended!

    Great tour of Priorat

We booked a tour of Priorat which not many realise is one of Spain’s top wine regions.

Meritxell was a pleasant and informative guide who we have no hesitation in recommending – she arrived promptly at the agreed time outside our hotel in Calafell.

In the morning we visited an interesting wine co-op in Falset, then an olive oil producer, on to lunch and finally a family run winery in Porrera. Meritxell did a great job of arranging a last minute substitute visit when Marco Abella let us down (not her fault).

    We thoroughly enjoyed our day.
